Theft accused Covid19 patient flees isolation ward after stealing mobile phones

Karwar: A Covid-19 patient admitted to the designated district hospital here absconded from the isolated ward on Monday, June 29 morning.

The patient, a 38-year-old man from Dharwad an accused in a theft case was showing Covid 19 symptoms and hence his swab samples were sent for testing.

As test results of the undertrial came positive he was shifted to the Covid 19 designated hospital in Karwar from Sirsi sub-jail.

However the patient fled the ward by breaking the glass door at around 6 am in the morning. He also stole two mobile phones from the ward before absconding.

The Karwar police acted swiftly and detained him from near Kadra here.
