Mangaluru: “Up to 98% of the work on Thokkottu flyover which was held up due to technical issues has been completed. The remaining work will be completed soon. I will personally stand and give green signal for vehicle traffic on June 10,” claimed Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar after inspecting the flyover, learning the pros and cons, lapses, quality of flyover work and obtaining opinions from locals on Wednesday, May 29.
“A meeting was called under the leadership of union minister Nitin Gadkari and officials to speed up the work. An additional grant of Rs 55 crore was released earlier through bank when there were financial constraints. The first project of Thokkottu flyover is completed after I became MP for the third time. I will work to ensure that no projects are held up or delayed in the future,” he said.
“I am confident that Pumpwell flyover work will be completed soon by Navyug Company and national highway authority officials,” said Nalin.
“Though delayed, Navyug Company and officials have completed Thokkottu flyover work. They should now complete Pumpwell flyover work. They should listen to problems of people and sort them out. The union minister cannot visit here as there are problems in several places due to approaching monsoon,” said the MP and asked Navyug Company officials to set right small loopholes so that ordinary people are not put to hardship as monsoon is approaching.
“The widening work of service road will be taken up after vehicles are allowed to ply on the flyover. That work will not be possible immediately as it will create problems because of increased traffic density,” informed Nalin.
