Two accused for hunting wild boar at Surlabi

Madikeri: Forest officials have arrested two persons for hunting a wild boar and transporting its meat at Surlabi near Somwarpet. The arrested are identified as U B Subramani, a resident of Kumbaragadi ad N P Ganesh, a resident of Surlabi.

The raid was conducted on credible information that meat of a wild animal was being transported near the government school in Surlabi village. Although the tip-off was that the meat was supposed to be that of a bison, the accused revealed that it was of a wild boar.

In this backdrop, the seized meat was sent to CCMB lab in Hyderabad for testing while the investigation is still in progress. Meanwhile, the meat, 2 rifles, torch and the bike used for the crime has been seized.
