Two held for derogatory FB post against PM, HM

Mangaluru: Two persons have been arrested for their social media posts spreading misinformation on coronavirus and objectionable and derogatory content against government functionaries, including Prime Minister Modi and Home minister Amit Shah.
The arrested are identified as Muhammed Ilyas and Abdul Basheer.
The accused during the investigation claimed to be associated with PFI/SDPI and divulged details of a broader network working behind the scene.
The cyber police is trying to trace the culprits involved in this act. Police said that stringent action will be taken against them as well as anyone trying to sabotage anti COVID efforts.
The arrested have been booked under provisions of Epidemic Diseases Act 1897, Sec 67 of Information Technology Act, Sec 54 Disaster Management Act 2005, and Sec 188, 153, 505 of Indian Penal Code.
