Two houses burgled; valuables worth lakhs stolen

Bantwal: Burglars gained entry into two houses and made off with cash and gold worth several lakhs of rupees at Irvattur, late Saturday night. The burglary occurred in the houses of Hasanabba and Yusuf.
Hasanabba’s house
Burglars broke open the rear door on the second floor of Hasanabba’s house and decamped with jewellery weighing 40 sovereigns. The burglary happened when family members were fast asleep. Reportedly, Hasanabba’s daughter who had come to her parental home along with children on account of holiday had placed her jewellery in the cupboard. The same has been stolen.
Yusuf’s house
With a similar modus operandi, the burglars gained access to the house by breaking open the back door and escaped with Rs 55,000 cash from the house.
Fingerprint experts and dog squad have been pressed into service and senior police officials have visited the spot.
