Udupi: 150-year-old tree comes down on temple

Udupi: Trees uprooted and fell on a temple and a house near Chittari Nandikeshwari temple at Matpadi on Wednesday, July 14 due to heavy rain in the district for the last two days.
A 150-year-old ‘Golimara’ (Ficus drupacea Thumb) came down on a temple and another jackfruit tree fell on the house belonging to Mahabala Nayari nearby damaging the roof and the bathroom.
The tree belonging to Muddujathan that fell on the house caused approximately a loss of Rs 6 lakh.
Gram panchayat officials, gram panchayat president, and panchayat members visited the spots.
