Udupi: Two events on Friday, April 23 have become the topic of intense discussion and cause of ire among the residents of the district here.
In the morning, hundreds of people were served food in the court’s premises in violation of the new COVID-19 guidelines.
Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha said that notices have been issued to the concerned officers who failed to check this violation.
Later, in the night, Jagadeesha was seen in attendance at the Mehendi ceremony of the daughter of an Additional Superintendent of Police.
He was criticised on social media for being at the event and posing for photographs, without wearing a mask, till 8:45 pm – minutes before the start of the curfew.
There was no response from the DC’s office to queries immediately after the incident.
These two events have outraged many, as shops were closed in the middle of the day to enforce the new curfew guidelines only days ago while authorities are now seen violating the guidelines with impunity.
