Udupi district has highest COVID-19 recovery rate in State

Udupi: With a 97.1 per cent recovery rate of COVID-19 cases, the district tops the list in the State for having the highest number of recoveries of infected cases.

Infections are declining at the country and State-level. This is also being reflected in the district.

Two months ago, the positive rate in the district (number of people testing positive from the total tested) was 16.2 per cent, presently it is 11.6 per cent.

In the past 3 days, of the total number of samples sent for testing the positive rate was 2.3 per cent.

The district also had the distinction of not reporting any COVID-19 cases in the months of March and April. But in August and September, there were about 300 cases detected every day, however, since the past 1 week its daily reported cases are between 20 and 70.

The district’s COVID-19 mortality rate too has dropped from 1.1 per cent to 1 per cent. Till date, 186 people have died from the virus.

Presently, there are only 427 COVID-19 cases in the district.

Speaking about the achievement of the district Dr Prashsant Bhat, COVID-19 Nodal Officer of Udupi district said: “Udupi district tops the State district in COVID-19 recovery. COVID-19 cases are decreasing day by day. Yet people need to be more careful and follow the rules and guidelines.”
