Udupi: Four arrested for robbing taxi driver at knifepoint

Udupi: Four people have been arrested by the Manipal police for robbing taxi driver at knifepoint.
The arrested are identified as Charan (35), from Ullal in Mangaluru, Mohammed Azaruddin (39), a resident of Shirva, Sharath Poojary (36) from Bantwal and Jayaprasad (43), a resident of Mangaluru.
The victim is Sridhara Bhakta (61), resident of Shantinagara 80 Badagubettu.
Case details:
On the evening of April 27 the accused hired the car from to go to Karwar at around 8.40 pm, when the taxi reached Ankola railway station they asked Bhakta to stop the car.
The accused then robbed Rs 3,000 cash from of Bhakta and drove the car back to Kundapur and reached Anegudde at 11.30 pm and stopped the car near an ATM. When taxi driver Bhakta went inside the ATM and came out, the accused escaped from the spot.
Following the incident, the taxi driver had registered a complaint in this regard at Manipal police station.
The operation was guided by SP Vishnuvardhan, additional SP Siddalingappa, DySP Sudhakar Nayak. Manipal police inspector Manjunath, SI Rajashekhar Vandali, personnel Shailesh, Nagesh Naik, Prasanna, Imran and Prasad were in the team that undertook the operation.
