Udupi: An incident where the Innanje gram panchayat in the taluk here traced those who disposed waste near a lake in their village and made them pay a fine after clearing the garbage was reported on Friday.

The waste was disposed there by two scrap and junk dealers Hamid and Altaf.

Two sacks of waste were found near the Markodi lake in Innaje on Friday. When a rickshaw driver resident of the village opened the sack he found waste in it and a bill with the name of the junk dealer.

The rickshaw driver took the bill to the gram panchayat where one of its members called the number on the bill and asked the junk dealers to come to the village.

The gram panchayat, meanwhile, also filed a complaint in the Kaup police station.
