Udupi: Highway robber arrested from Kaup

Udupi: A man who robbed two-wheeler riders in Manipal and Udupi area during the nights has been arrested from Kaup.

The arrested has been identified as Aashiq (19) of Mallaru Kombugudde near Kaup.

Police are searching for another accused in the case.

On the night of September 19, in surrounding areas of Manipal and Udupi, Aashiq had robbed bike-borne riders at knifepoint. Three cases were registered in Manipal and Udupi police stations regarding it.

Aashiq was caught on the night of Saturday, September 26 while he was roaming about areas in Udupi and Manipal. The bike, knife, screwdriver used in the robbery and a robbed mobile phone was seized from him.

It was reported Aashiq was also involved in an attempted murder case on September 20 at Mallari near Kaup. Four culprits connected to the case have already been arrested.
