The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has given approval for the construction of the Indrali railway overbridge project on national highway NH 169, following a long delay caused due to a rift between the ministry and the railways.

The project, which includes the construction of a 54-meter bowstring arch bridge, has been allocated a budget of Rs 14.53 crore, with an additional cost of Rs 5.58 crore approved by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.

The work on the project is set to begin immediately and is expected to be completed within two to three months.

Shobha Karandlaje, the Minister for State Agriculture and Farmer Welfare and Udupi Chikkamagaluru MP said that technical problems and a dispute between the Konkan railway and the national highway authority had contributed to the delay of the project.
