Udupi: MLA Raghupati Bhat has termed the merger of the Hejamady and Surathkal toll gates as “unscientific”.

Following the closure of the Surathkal toll gate, the legislator met with Union Surface Transport and Highway Minister Nithin Gadkari in New Delhi on Thursday, December 1 and submitted a memorandum regarding the merger of toll charges levied in Hejamady.

The Union Minister who accepted the memorandum claimed that a meeting will be held with the National Highway Authority of India representatives on December 5 to discuss the issue.

The MLA has urged the union minister Nithin Gadkari and NHAI officials not to collect additional toll charges at Hejamady until the meeting scheduled for December 5 is held.
