Udupi: Non-consensus in meeting called by DC; Pvt buses to stay off roads

Udupi: Udupi Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha on Wednesday, May 6 convened a meeting with private bus owners and officials of KSRTC to discuss about running buses on select routes in the district.
Since Udupi is classified as a green zone, provision for public transport while adhering to certain guidelines has been allowed in the third phase of the relaxed lockdown.
The private bus owners however expressed their reluctance to operate buses with half the capacity, in order to maintain the social distance, without a fare hike. They also sought concessions in the toll fare. As the DC opined that fare hike at this point of time was unsuitable, the private bus owners are unlikely to resume service for now.
Meanwhile KSRTC buses will begin plying on select routes, while adhering to guidelines laid by district administration.
