Udupi: Prisoners hold hunger strike accusing Hiriadka jail superintendent of misusing facilities provided to them

Udupi: Prisoners at Kajaraguthu district prison at Hiriadka on Friday held a hunger strike accusing the jail superintendent of not providing proper facilities to them.
They claim that jail superintendent Srinivas Gowda is misusing the facilities provided by the state government and urged to take strict action against him.
It is said that Gowda along with another personnel demand bribe from the prisoners and ration that is meant for the prisoners is sent to the residence of the jail superintendent.
Also, low-quality food is being provided to them. They are supposed to serve fish or mutton to the prisoners at least once a week. But instead are serving only chicken legs.
They further urged lawyers and MLAs to visit the prison and verify their claim. Prisoners also wrote a letter to the Udupi magistrate and Kaup MLA Lalaji Mendon has assured strict action. After which prisoners concluded their fast
