Udupi Puttige Math successor to be initiated today

Udupi: The successor of Sugunendra Tirtha Swamiji, senior seer of the Udupi Puttige Math will be initiated on Monday April 22. Prashanth Acharya (27), a graduate engineer of Udupi will become the 31st seer of the Math post his initiation into sanyasa today.

The initiation ritual will be conducted at the base Math of Puttige Mutt in Puttige village near Hiriyadkka in Udupi district at 11.45 a.m.

The outgoing seer Sugunendra Tirtha is the 30th seer of the Math and will be completing 45 years of his sanyasa on Monday April 22. He was 12 years old when he was ordained into sanyasa.

Prashanth Acharya who is well versed in Sanskrit and has been chosen for his many qualities is the son of Gururaja Acharya and Vinuta Acharya of Kunjibettu in Udupi.
