Udupi RTO caught red-handed while receiving bribe

Udupi: The Regional Transport Officer (RTO) R M Varnekar was caught red-handed while receiving bribe from a car owner during a raid conducted by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) from Bengaluru here on Saturday, March 16.

Apparently, the car owner identified as Vignesh had applied for documents from the district transport office ater his car was burnt down in a fire incident during air show in Bengaluru recently. However, the RTO Varnekar allegedly demanded money to issue the required documents.

Consequently, Vignesh filed a complaint with the ACB and as a result Varnekar was caught red handed in his act of receiving a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the car owner on Saturday.

Investigation is underway and more information is awaited.
