Udupi: Social workers help cremate body of old woman who was abandoned by her children

Udupi: Social workers in the city cremated the body of an old woman who was abandoned by her children on Thursday, July 9.

Veena Shanbhag was being treated at a private hospital for several days. She was accompanied by her husband Srinivas Shanbhag. It is said that several messages seeking help for the couple were circulating in social media.

A social worker, Raghavendra Kini noticed the messages and came forward to help them. The couple was staying in a rented house and have two children.

The children have finished their studies are currently working but none of them were in touch with their parents.

On Thursday, June 9, Veena Kini died and she was cremated with the help of Raghavendra Kini and others.
