Udupi’s Bhujang Park being redeveloped at Rs 1.35 cr

Udupi: The redevelopment work of the Bhujang Park at Ajjarkadu, being done by the Tourism Department and the town council at a cost of Rs 1.35 crore, will be completed within the next two months.
The park in the heart of the city is been given a high-tech touch.
Of the total cost, the Tourism Department sanctioned a grant of Rs 1 crore while Rs 35 lakhs was granted by the town council.
The park will feature a new outdoor gym, which will a first in Udupi.
A butterfly park will also be constructed at the park. Already, with the help of butterfly experts, plants that attract butterflies have been planted and nurtured.
“A butterfly park and water pond will be constructed at the Bhujang Park. The required grant has been sanctioned. The work will be completed within two months and the park will be opened to the public,” said MLA K Raghupati Bhat, MLA.
The Bhujang Park has a special place in history. Mahatma Gandhi had visited the park before independence. A rock on which he sat is still there in the park and is called Gandhikatta.
