Bengaluru: In a grim reminder of ‘vulnerability’ of women in the IT capital of India, a video has emerged showing a woman being allegedly molested or robbed by a pillion rider here.
The video, doing the rounds on social media, shows two women walking along a dimly-lit road in Vijayanagar area of the city late in the evening.
A scooter then comes from behind and drives past the women, not before the pillion rider stretches his hand to either molest or rob one of them.
The women, however, have not come forward to lodge a complaint with police.
“We are looking out for the two women who were walking on the road, and also the one who uploaded the video. Once we get their help, we will be able to figure out whether it is a case of molestation or robbery,” DCP (West) M N Anucheth told PTI here.
Bengaluru has been in the news recently for several molestation incidents, including the one where a woman walking in an alley was allegedly groped and assaulted by two scooter-borne men on New Year day at Kamanahalli.
Earlier, several women were molested and groped by miscreants on M G Road and Brigade Road on New Year’s eve, despite the presence of 1,500 police personnel to control unruly revellers.
The incidents had led to a national outrage, raising concerns over the safety of women in the country’s IT capital.
