On the afternoon of Dec 26th, a function of a family from Salmara in Puttur had taken place in this resort. After the party had concluded and most the guest had left, 5 boys who were with their guardians got down into the swimming pool. Seeing this, an eight-year-old boy also got into the swimming pool. However, his guardians failed to see this.

Later, the child in the water bobbed in and out of the water three times with it arms flailing in the air seeking help. This was seen by the mother of the drowning child who in turn raised the alarm and immediately a relative dived into the water and rescued the child from the swimming pool. Those who had come for the programme got down into the swimming pool. To get into the swimming pool, a ticket must be procured. Without our knowledge, the guardians let the kids get into the swimming pool. Our staff maintain an eye on those who come for swimming as a safety measure.
