Villagers harass 15-day-old elephant calf in Bannerghatta park

Bengaluru: In an incident that took place at Ragihalli in the Bannerghatta National Park, a group of men can be seen harassing a 15-day-old elephant calf which reportedly got separated from its mother.
In the video of the incident, which has gone viral on social media the youth can be seen chasing the calf and harassing it. One of the persons is seen carrying a gun.
The calf was rescued by officials of the forest department and has been placed in a rescue centre where it is getting medical treatment.
“The calf got separated from its mother and thereby lost the herd. efforts are on to reunite the calf with its herd,” said an official with the forest department.
