As the Taliban took control over Afghanistan, a picture has gone viral of a man covering up pictures of women painted on a wall in Kabul.
Many advertisements of women wearing wedding dresses appear to have been painted over in Kabul after Taliban fighters entered Afghanistan’s capital.

Despite a Taliban spokesperson’s claim, the militant group “will respect rights of women”, but also said that they will have to wear the hijab in public, the incident occurred.
A Taliban spokesperson asserted, “We will respect the rights of women. Our policy is that women will have access to education and work, only if they wear the hijab.”
Here’s how Twitter reacted:
Thinking about the generation of young Afghan women, who are watching the only country they ever knew morph into a place they have no place in. Heartbreaking. https://t.co/50SmGYxCda

Pray for the women, the children, the aid workers, the interpreters, the cooks, the teachers, the people who helped and believed it might not end like this.
Hell on earth. God have mercy on them. https://t.co/1Fe1D0mGzx

It begins.
Women will be invisible again, silenced, and won't be able to breathe anymore. https://t.co/boliB0iE5X

What a sad symbol this is. Preparing for the Taliban by painting away 20-years of women being a part of society. #OnTheWorldsWatch #Afghanistan https://t.co/WXi6VZ8ARw
