The Vittal police station has registered a POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) case against a man  for allegedly harassing a schoolgirl.

According to reports, the man hailing from Peruvai had been tailing a 9th-grade student from Kepu village for several days, persistently pressuring her to disclose her mobile number.

On one occasion, he approached her near the school and insisted she sit on his bike while warning her against discussing the matter with anyone else. Terrified by the encounter, the girl confided in her school teacher, who promptly informed her parents. Subsequently, a formal complaint was lodged at the police station.

The police are now investigating the matter, and legal actions will be taken in accordance with the POCSO Act to ensure the safety and protection of the young student.
