Votes sought through fake stamp

Mangaluru: We have seen voters being attracted through different forms of attraction. A candidate contesting for Legislative Council South teachers constituency has been caught trying to reach the voters by duping the postal department!

On Tuesday, Balmatta post office received information from which the regional post office at Bengaluru about this candidate using fake stamps to send his manifesto to the voters, post which the the office has withhold all the manifesto copies.

What had happened?

Legislative Council South teachers constituency election is on June 8^th and most of the candidates prefer to reach their through the postal department. D.K.Tulasappa contesting for Legislative Council South teachers constituency too had sent his manifesto through post, and had made use of stamps that were Xerox copies , accused the postal department.

Since a few days, manifesto’s bearing such stamps have been received by the post office and also been distributed to the voters without the observation of the postal department said the department officials.

Illegal method to save expenses?

A 10 rupees stamp if required to post a copy of the manifesto. It is being said that instead spending money for this, the candidate has resorted to this illegal method. He has printed multiple copies of the original stamp and used them to mail his manifesto. These manifesto’s are being posted from Rajajinagar in Bengaluru, on Tuesday, Pandeshwar Main Post Office received 130 manifestos with the afore mentioned fake stamps. On receiving information from the divisional office, the mail had been withheld.

The mail will be sent back to the sender following which further action will be taken. But, there is no information of the type of action that will be initiated against the candidate, informed the officials to ‘Udayavani’.

Particular reason unknown

“We received the information from Bengaluru division postmaster general office, and we have informed the post offices not to distribute these mails. We do not know the particular reason. This information might have been given because the stamp is not right,” informed Laxminarayana, Mangaluru Assistant Post Superintendent.  

Cellphone switched off!

When attempts were made to contact the candidate on this issue his mobile remained switched off.
