Sullia: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president D K Shivakumar will reportedly appear before the court at 11.30 am on October 5 as a witness in connection with a 2016 case.
The Sullia court judge on September 29 had issued a fresh warrant against the KPCC President.
Earlier on September 13, the court issued notice to the inspector general and director general of police to produce Shivakumar in the court on September 29 for the case hearing. However, the Congress leader failed to appear for the hearing as he had left for Delhi.
Shivakumar on October 5 will attend the hearing and give witness on the case. He will leave Bengaluru international airport at 7.25 am on October 5 and will reach Sullia at 11.30 to attend the court hearing.
At 12.30 pm, Shivakumar will visit Kukke Subramanya temple and will return back to Bengaluru at 8 pm from Mangaluru airport.
In February 2016, the Congress leader, then energy minister for the state had filed a police complaint – through the Mescom officials – alleging Sai Giridhar Rai, former president of Bellare Merchants Association had issued a life threat and stopped them from discharging their duties.
This was following a heated exchange of words between DK Shivakumar and Rao over the power crisis in Rai’s village. An enraged Rai is said to have used abusive words against the minister and Mescom officials.
Acting on the complaint, the police had arrested Rai from his residence at midnight after scaling the roof as the latter refused to open the door.
DK Shivakumar was listed as a witness in the case and is required to record his evidence in the case.
