Ramanagara: Lavish preparations are underway at Ramanagara for Nikhil Kumaraswamy’s wedding to be held on April 17, despite the extended lockdown in the nation.
Pointing out that Ramanagara falls in green zone category as no coronavirus cases have been reported here, former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy said that the wedding will take place on the scheduled date itself in a simple manner amid presence of close family members.
Kumaraswamy also urged JDS workers not to attend the function in view of the lockdown and bless the couple from their homes.
In the future, we will hold a reception and invite everyone,” the JDS leader added.
However scenes of the preparations which is underway tell a different story and it is likely that 300-500 people can attend the function.
This has created a row on social media with netizens questioning if VVIPs can be allowed to flout lockdown norms just because they can.
Questioned regarding granting of permission for the wedding amid the lockdown, Home Minister Bommai replied that he is trusting Kumaraswamy’s words that only family members will attend the marriage.
