Whatsapp message warns Muslims against hiring of stalls for Vittal temple fair

Mangaluru: A message warning Muslims not to participate in the annual fair of Vittal Sri Mahatobara Panchalingeshwara Temple, located 35 km from Mangaluru has gove viral on Whatsapp platform.

In the message, allegedly circulated by few right-wing organisations states that Muslims are not welcome to the fair and warns them against hiring of stalls during the temple fair. The annual fair is being held from January 14 to 22 and attracts a huge crowd during the Rathostava.

Over the years, the temple fair has been celebrated in a secular manner and Muslims used to put up stalls on the government land here. However this year, in the backdrop of the viral Whatsapp message, it has been gathered that Muslims have been denied the opportunity to set up stalls.
