WhatsApp profiles, groups showing in search results on Google

Last February, Google and WhatsApp were in the news after it was revealed that WhatsApp chats and account information was showing up on Google search results.
The issued was reportedly resolved, however, WhatsApp profiles and groups have started showing up in results page again.
Both Google and WhatsApp did not say anything on the issue until recently when a WhatsApp spokesperson made a statement stating that “WhatsApp has included the “noindex” tag on all deep link pages since March 2020 which excludes them from indexing.”
The statement further read that “like any other content that is shared in searchable, public channels, invite links that are posted publicly on the internet can be found by other WhatsApp users.”
It advised that “links users wish to share privately with people they know and trust must not be posted on publicly accessible websites.”
