
Will appoint interim resident grievance officer soon: Twitter to Delhi HC

New Delhi: Twitter India on Saturday told the Delhi High Court that it will soon appoint a resident grievance officer in India.
While Twitter had appointed an Interim Resident Grievance officer as per the new IT Rules, the officer quit on June 21.
Twitter was responding to a case was filed in High Court by a user alleging that his complaint against Tweets were not acted upon promptly by the social media giant.
“An Interim Resident Grievance officer was appointed as per the new IT Rules. However, even before steps could be taken to completely formalise the arrangement, the official withdrew his candidature on 21.6.2021,” Twitter told the High court.
Under the new IT rules of India, social media firms are required to appoint a chief compliance officer, a nodal contact person and a resident grievance officer, all of whom should be Indian residents.
