Bengaluru: An official statement said that software major Wipro will now work with the Karnataka government to battle air pollution in the state, particularly Bengaluru.
“Wipro Chairman Azim Premji assured Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy of partner with the state government in limiting air pollution as a major aspect of the IT major’s corporate social responsibility (CSR),” said the announcement from the Chief Minister’s office.
On Premji’s bidding, Kumaraswamy said Additional Chief Secretary, Forest, Environment and Ecology, Sandeep Dave will be delegated as the nodal officer for organizing the anti-pollution programme.
“Premji likewise indicated enthusiasm for partnering together with the state government to execute programs on zero budget as he was doing in Andhra Pradesh,” said the announcement.
Azim Premji Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation in the field of education from primary schools to college, will likewise partner with the state government in enhancing the quality of education and infrastructure of schools across the state.
