With visa-free entry to 58 countries, India #84 in World’s most powerful passports rankings 2020

New Delhi: Indian passport has been ranked 84th in the list of world’s most powerful passports in a recent report released by Henley & Partners.
Based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Henley & Partners has come out with a passport index where countries are ranked according to the number of destinations their passport holder can access without a prior visa.
Indian passport got a score of 58, which means Indian passport holders can visit 58 countries without prior visa. India shared the rank with Mauritania and Tajikistan.
While Japan continues to top the list of the world’s most powerful passport as it fetches visa-free access to 191 countries, India’s rank has dropped from 82nd spot in 2019 to 84th in 2020.
World’s 10 most powerful passports:
1. Japan: 191 countries
2. Singapore: 190 countries
3. Germany and South Korea: 189 countries
4. Finland and Italy: 188 countries
5. Denmark, Luxembourg and Spain: 187 countries
6. France and Sweden: 186 countries
7. Austria, Ireland, Netherlands, Portugal and Switzerland: 185 countries
8. Belgium, Greece, Norway, UK and USA: 184 countries
9. Australia, Canada, Czech Republic, Malta and New Zealand: 183
10. Hungary, Lithuania and Slovakia: 181
Indian passport holders can travel visa-free to 58 destinations like Bhutan, Cambodia, Indonesia, Macao, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Kenya, Mauritius, Seychelles, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Iran and Qatar.
Afghanistan’s passport is the world’s worst passport. Pakistan, on the other hand, got fourth-last rank.
