- Children survive, hospitalized
Belthangady: A woman from Shimoga was found hanging unto death along with her twin children at a rented house at Odala along Ujire Balalu road. The heart-rending incident took place on Monday in which the mother died, but the children survived and have been admitted to a hospital.
The deceased woman had been identified as Baby (23) from Hosanagara Shimoga. Her twin daughter Akshara and Apsara aged 2 years and 8 months have been admitted to Mangaluru government hospital. No clear reason behind the extreme step taken by the woman has been found.
Baby’s husband Praveen works at a saloon in Ujire. When he returned back home in the evening, he found his wife and two children hanging unto death. Immediately he lowered them from the hanging and by then, Baby breathed her last. Later, he shifted the children to the hospital with assistance from the locals.
Praveen, earlier owned a saloon in Hosanagara and had come to Ujire 2 years ago. There is doubt that the woman first hanged her children and then hanged herself, but nothing can be said for sure, inform the police.
A case has been registered on the complaint given by the brother of the deceased woman. Belthangady police have visited the spot and conducted investigation.
