Belthangady: A young woman was pushed into a lake by a man and left to drown after she resisted a rape attempt in Alandangadi in Venur station limits on Tuesday, July 9.
Fortunately, the victim managed to escape the watery grave, reached Belthangady circle inspector’s office and filed a complaint against the man who is said to be a BJP worker.
In her complaint the woman alleged that the BJP worker tried to rape her and on her resisting his attempts, he tried to murder her by pushing her into the lake.
Police are investigating the incident and more details are awaited.
