Woman smuggling ganja worth Rs 8 cr held

Kasargod: Acting on credible information, sleuths of excise intelligence bureau, on Monday, October 8, confiscated two kilograms of banned drugs from the possession of a woman at Palakkad here.
The arrested, Sindhuja, 21, of Kanyakumari had concealed the drugs, meant for onward delivery to a person in Thrissur in her vanity bag. According to the officials the drugs were supposed to be dispatched to Oman, where it would have fetched an approximate Rs 8 crore.
During the questioning, Sindhuja informed the police that she was being paid Rs one lakh for smuggling the drugs from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh to Thrissur. In Thrissur, she was supposed to hand over the drugs to a person named Muhammed Jabir, who would then make arrangements to smuggle it to Oman. She also claimed to have smuggled drugs between the two places on 17 previous occasions.
