World Chess Day: All you need to know

International Chess Day is celebrated every year on July 20. It is s celebrated to honour the founding of the Federation Internationale des Echecs, also known as FIDES, in 1924. This year FIDE’s motto is , “Teach someone how to play chess”
Chess was invented around the fifth century in India and was called as Chaturanga. Later it spread to Persia and after the Arab invasion, Chess became an important part of people’s life. Chess evolved during the 15th century and took the shape of a modern game
This year top chess personalities will join the International Chess Federation and the United Nations in an online event. FIDE President Arkady Dvorkovich, GM Viswanathan Anand, GM Vladimir Kramnik, GM Levon Aronian, and GM Hou Yifan will participate in the online event organized by the United Nations called “Chess for Recovering Better”
