Kalaburagi: Former Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa confidently declared in a press meet in Aland taluk here on Monday that the BJP would win 150 seats in the Assembly elections. While commenting on the extensive support the party is receiving in the State, he also quashed the possibility of a post-poll alliance with the JD(S).

He said that since the party had had a bitter experience of allying with the JD(S) in the past, it would not do so this time around. He also retorted to the advertisement by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah which challenged him to conduct an open debate about the achievements of the government, stating that it was the CM who had not turned up for the debate.

He was supremely confident of his victory in the polls and stated that he will be sworn in as the Chief Minister on May 17. He also added that after the results are announced, the Congress will leave the State, along with Mr. Siddaramaiah.

He also accused CM Siddaramaiah and Aland MLA B.R. Patil of dividing the Lingayat community as a move to defeat the BJP and said that he will be satisfied only when Mr. Patil is defeated in the election.

He attacked the CM for allegedly misusing the Anti-Corruption Bureau and the CID to clear all the cases lodged against him and his Cabinet. He also threatened the Chief Minister of reopening all those cases when he comes to power.

Mr. Yeddyurappa requested the people to give the BJP candidate for Aland, Subhash Guttedar, a clear victory. He promised the waiving of farm loans issued by nationalised banks and cooperative societies.
