Mangaluru: Police arrested a man who allegedly married a girl from another community here.

The accused has been identified as Sayyed alias Arun Poojary.

It has been reported that, Sayyed had falsely claimed himself to be Arun Poojary and wooed a Hindu woman.

He later married the woman in a temple and was living in a rented apartment in Kumpala.

It is being alleged that Sayyed used to harass his wife and very recently, when submitting documents to a bank, his wife realized that his real name was Sayyed, not Arun Poojary. The lady said that she thereafter filed a police complaint of cheating in Ullal police station, but the police personnel overlooked her complaint.

On Wednesday, when he arrived home the lady turned violent and beat him up.

Sayyed is undergoing treatment at a private hospital here.
