Mangaluru: A whatsapp message stating ‘Mangaluru’s international airport is now named as Koti- Chennaya international airport’ has gone viral since a couple of days. However, airport officials clarified that the message is indeed a fake.

An official said that once again there were fake forwards being circulated on Whatsapp claiming that the name of Mangaluru International Airport has been changed to Koti-Chennaya International Airport. The prank which is still in circulation is causing damage to the airport’s image. The officials requested the public to refrain from spreading the fake message.

Previously, the Billawa community members from the Dakshina Kannada district had requested to rename the Mangaluru airport as ‘Koti Chennaya airport’.

Koti and Chennayya are Tuluva twin heroes characterized in the Tulu epic of the same name. The epic depicts them to be two personalities who struggled for social justice and equality in society.
