Puttur: A vehicle from Kerala carrying meat wastes was caught red handed at a place here on Wednesday.

A Kerala-based lorry carrying meat wastes and dumping it on Karnataka border areas illegally was caught red-handed by the public here near Baleguli in Irde village on Wednesday July 11.

It has been reported that the locals caught a vehicle red handed while they were throwing meat waste from chicken stalls in public places coming under Vittal and Puttur station limits.

Despite several complaints from the locals, the gram panchayat and the police had failed to take any action earlier.

Later the waste was dumped in Puttur dumping yard after paying necessary fees.

Earlier a case was registered by Alike gram panchayat, after waste was found dumped in Billampadavu area. The police department too had swung into action and were patrolling in the area for the last few days.
