Avinash murder case: Girlfriend, paramour get life term

Mangaluru: The sixth additional district and sessions court here has found the girl who instigated her current lover to murder her former lover, and the man who executed the murder guilty of their respective crimes.
The guilty have been sentenced to life imprisonment and fined Rs. 25,000 each. Failure to pay the fine will attract an additional 2 months on incarceration.
The sentenced convicts are Gaviranga alias Harish(28) from Andhanakere village, Tipatur taluk, Tumakuru district, and Sushma Precilla (28), resident of Padubail in Mulky Karnad for murdering Avinash Suvarna (21) from Karkala Kendottu Padavu.
On Thursday August 2nd, Judge of the court, D T Puttaranga Swamy, had concluded that the charges against the accused were proved and he announced the quantum of sentence on Saturday. Gaviranga was charged of murder under IPC section 302 and Sushma Precilla was charged with abetment to commit murder.
The judge also ordered to disburse Rs. 40,000 of the collected fine as compensation to Avinash’s father. He also mentioned that the victim’s father is eligible to claim compensation from the district legal services authority.
