R V Deshpande visits Jodupala land slip site

Sullia: State Minister for Revenue R V Deshpande visited Jodupala and oversaw the rescue operations on Sunday August 19th. Relief and rescue operations are being undertaken at Jodupala where a massive land slip was reported recently. Search is on by the National Defence Response Force (NDRF) team for the two missing persons.
Residents of over 100 houses in the area have been evacuated to safer places. Several more were rescued from the place to safer locations by the NDRF, fire service personnel, Home Guards and volunteers on Sunday.
Several families are taking shelter at the Sampaje, Kallugundi centres while the rest have preferred to stay in the houses of their relatives. A team of doctors is providing medical help to the people in the gruel centres.
Meanwhile, in the backdrop of fears of landslide at Ubrala Mavaji in Markanja village, at least two families have locked up their homes and are staying elsewhere
