MIT celebrates Engineer’s Day

Manipal: Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, celebrated Engineer’s Day on September 15, 2018 by introducing an Oration Series in memory of well-known engineer and administrator, Prof. P V Bhandary Memorial Oration Series. The first lecture in the Series on, Mega trends in technological changes in the world, was delivered by Dr. H. P. Khincha, Former Vice Chancellor, VTU, Belagavi to a group of practicing engineers and academicians.

About 200 engineers and faculty members of the engineering college gathered at Sir M V Hall, MIT to inaugurate and mark the beginning of the first lecture. Prof. K.J Kamath, former head of Dept. of Mechanical Engineering paid tributes to Sir M Visvesvaraya and Late Professor P Varadraya Bhandary prior to the inaugural lecture.  

Dr. Khincha delivering the lecture said, “Mega technologies are changing the way life is lived and it is imperative that all sections of society understand the significance of these mega trends. Particularly, the academicians and engineers need to think on making effective use of these mega trends in technology. Technology is creating an idea of shared economy among diverse fields such as engineering, finance, management and society. This would have far reaching impact on the life in future. Accommodating the consequences of these mega trends in technology is crucial for the growth of humanity”.

Meenakshi Bhandary, wife of Late Prof. P V Bhandary, Dr. P Venkatraya Bhandary, son of Prof. P V Bhandary and his wife Dr. Sulatha Bhandary were present to mark the occasion. Dr. BHV Pai, Joint Director, MIT, Dr. N. V. Subba Reddy, Prof. Dept. of CSE and Chairman, Prof. P V Bhandary Memorial Oration Committee, MIT, Manipal graced the occasion.
