CHC employee attempts suicide after harassment

Udupi: A 24-year-old youth employed at the Brahmavar Community Health Centre allegedly attempted suicide by consuming poison on October 10.

The youth, Nagaraj M E from Shivamogga district is undergoing treatment at the Manipal Hospital. It is believed that he resorted to the extreme step owing to the harassment from a medical officer at the centre.

The allegation has been made by Nagaraj’s father Eshwarappa who has claimed that his son had called him on October 10 and revealed that he was being harassed by the medical officer.

Nagaraj who was earlier working at Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru as a contract worker was deputed to the Brahmavar Community Health Centre just three months ago.
