7-mth ordeal over, Basrur Shankar Poojary reaches his native

Udupi: After spending seven months in a Kuwait prison, Shanker Poojary (40), from Basrur, Kundapur who was released on January 15 reached his native place on Monday, January 21.
A day after he landed in Mumbai, Shankar arrived at his native on Monday and met his wife, Jyothi at the hospital, where she stands admitted having met with a two-wheeler accident.
Poojary had been arrested at the Kuwait airport after medicinal tablets, having substances banned as per rules prevailing there were found in his luggage. While Poojary claimed that a colleague of his had given him the parcel, containing the tablets and requested him to hand it to a lady named Fatima at Kuwait, the latter refused to take any responsibility for the same.
He was released later owing to the efforts put in by various organizations and friends who submitted the documentary evidence to prove Shankar’s innocence befor the court.
Meanwhile, the seven-month ordeal has taken a toll on Poojary’s mental health. Moreover, he even lost his job at Agriculture and Food Products Company where he was earlier employed. “At the moment I wish to spend some time with my family and decide about future plans later,” said Shankar.
