Mangaluru: Pumpwell flyover work is unscientific and is not as per the national and international criteria, alleged Dayanath Kotiyan, president of Forum for Justice.
Speaking at a press meet he said, as per international standards, the height of the flyover should be 5.5 meters but the map of the Pumpwell flyover states 5.25 meters. In the later work agreement it was written as 5 meters. But now, there is a complaint that the flyover is only 4.5 meters high.
Now a ditch is being dug beneath the flyover which is causing problem to daily commuters. On one side, the pillar of the flyover has turned. The concerned department must immediately re-inspect the work. We have brought this to the notice of national highway authority and the deputy commissioner. Yet, no action has been taken, he informed.
Senior spokesperson M G Mohan spoke and said, all the highway related works in the district have been delayed. 10 years have passed since the work began on the flyover at Pumpwell, the heights along the road from Talpady to Kundapur have been depressed. The areas which were depressed have been raised. But the roads leading from Nanthoor, Ujjodi, Kankanady and Garodi are at a height and the flyover lies in a depressed area, he explained.
Years back it was announced that an underpass would be constructed at Ujjodi. 4 years have passed since then, but it has not been created. Officials and people’s representatives say that they do not information regarding the construction of an underpass or a flyover at Nanthoor circle, he informed.
