Tulu Movie ‘Madipu’ Bags National Award

Mangaluru: Tulu movie ‘Madipu,’ showcasing the rich culture and heritage of Tulu Nadu has been selected for the 64th National Best Regional Film Award on Friday. ‘Madipu’ is the 78th Tulu movie released in the history of Tulu cinema.

The movie narrates the story of a person belonging to a community which performs Bhotharadhane. It was released on March 10 at Suchitra theatre in the city and was later released in nine theaters throughout Dakshina Kannada.

The movie is expected to be screened in Bengaluru, Dubai, Muscat and others parts of globe during the last week of April.

Speaking after announcement of the award, Director of the movie, Chethan Mundadi said, “The team did not expect such an honor and the movie was not made for money. Many who formed a part of the crew worked for the movie without taking any remuneration. We are happy to receive such the award.”
