Karnataka Milk Producers to get Rs 1 to Rs 2 per liter Milk as incentive

Bengaluru: Karnataka government has asked all the district milk federations to provide an incentive of Rs 1 to Rs 2 per liter milk to the milk producers in the wake of severe drought conditions in the state.  The sate government is also providing Rs 5 per liter milk as an incentive to the milk producers.

The milk federations should provide the incentive based on their profit, annual transaction and shouldn’t raise the prices of milk in the name of incentive. All federations should support the farmers amid severe drought in the state, said Minister for Animal Husbandry A Manju after a meeting with the officials from Animal Husbandry department on Tuesday in the state capital.

For the time being, as many as 9 lakh milk producers are working to produce 65 lakh liters of milk per day. As a result of severe drought condition milk production has been reduced by 7 lakh liter per day and to support the producers an incentive is essential to raise the existing milk production to 1 crore liter per day, the minister said.
