Kannadigas Should Respect their Language, Culture: Chief Minister

Bengaluru: Kannadigas should be proud of their mother land, language, culture and there should be an environment to facilitate non-Kannadigas to learn Kannada in Karnataka, said Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah delivering his speech at 62nd Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
Delivering his speech at Kanteerava stadium here, chief minister said, Kannadigas’ should not possess excess liberal attitude in learning foreign language(s) as it may adversely impact the growth of Kannada language even in Karnataka. Residents of Karnataka should be proud of the of Kannada culture before recognizing themselves as Indians, he pointed out.
Meanwhile, on the occasion of Kannada Rajyotsava Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted Kannadigas on his twitter account and said he is proud of Karnataka and its rich heritage. He further added he will pray for the overall development of Karnataka also.”
All leaders of opposition were absent in the event organized as part of Rajyotsava celebrations in Bengaluru even if they government invited them to the function. Bengaluru Urban Development Minister KJ George, Ministers Roshan Baig, Tanveer Sait and others were present on the occasion.
