Former DGP files defamation case against DIG Roopa

Bengaluru: Former DGP of Prisons, H Satyanarayana Rao has filed a defamation case against Former DIG of Prisons, Roopa Moudgil.
DIG Roopa had earlier alleged that Rs 2 crore was being provided Satyanarayana Rao, for providing VIP facilities to Sasikala inside jail.
After this, DIG Roopa was transferred and Satyanarayana Rao was sent on leave.
Satyanarayana Rao, in his defamation case against Former DIG Roopa , said that the allegations have caused severe damage to his name, fame and integrity, and also “mental agony”, reported news daily.
Rao, questioned for proof on the allegations made and asked for pictures of the said VIP treatment in the jail.
Rao said he would approach the Income Tax Department to find out the source where the alleged Rs 2 crore was mobilised, who carried it, who received it and where it is stored, so that those guilty of violating tax laws can be brought to book.
Roopa alleged that she had heard that convict V K Sasikala was being provided privileges in the Jail, and a bribe of Rs 2 crore was being negotiated for the same.
Rao however denied all allegations and asked her to tender an unconditional apology within three days of receiving the notice, failing which he will file criminal and civil suits for defamation, for Rs 50 crore.
